Green Revolution in Zefat

The Municipality is promoting a huge project of producing green solar energy, while preserving the environment and generating economic income for the authority, through electricity generation from large solar roofs.

Over the past two years, the municipality has promoted the installation of innovative and advanced solar panels on no less than 9 different complexes throughout the city in order to utilize the natural resource for the benefit of green energy and financial income for the well-being of Zefat residents.

This involves the creation of significant energy of about 900 kilowatts, with an investment of about five million shekels . Systems were placed on public buildings including the new roofing roof in the municipal stadium, Noam School, Agamim School, Chabad Boys School, Amit School, Berav Schhool and the Bloom Community Center.

According to estimates and weighting of daylight hours, the annual income is expected to be around NIS 600,000, which will make it possible to promote additional projects for the well-being of the city's residents and to continue the trend of development.

Zefat is considered one of Israel’s green cities. Street lighting throughout the city is environmentally friendly LED lighting, the municipality purchased 2 green electric vehicles for field work last year, the municipality building is considered a green building and the percentage of recycling in the city is considered higher than the norm in Israel. Now solar roofs have been integrated into the green system of Zefat so that the municipality can allocate more services and resources to the residents.
